DRUK PATH 2 (6 Days)

 

Day 1 - Arrival at Paro
Day 2 - Sightseeing at Paro
Day 3 - Paro to Jele Dzong
Day 4 - Jele Dzong to Tsheluna (camp at the other side of the river, Pa-chu)
Day 5 - Tsheluna to Thimphu
Day 6 - Thimphu to Paro (see off)

Remarks: Covering approximately a walking distance of 7/8 hours per day and altitude of approximately of 11,900 ft. and below.

Day 01 Arrival at Paro by Druk Air

During this journey, one will experience breathtaking views of Mount Everest, Kanchen Junga and other Himalayan Peaks including sacred Jhomolhari and Mount Jichu Drakey in Bhutan. On arrival at Paro International Airport the representative of Bhutan Takin Trails will receive you. And will be transferred to hotel through the enchanting valley of Paro. Overnight at Hotel.

 

Day 02 Paro – Sightseeing

Drive the winding road northwest up the Pa-Chu to Drugyel Dzong, the ruined Fortress which once defended this valley from Tibetan invasion and the Drugyel Dzong was built to commemorate the victory over the Tibetan invader in the 17th century. From here Mt. Jhomolhari, the sacred summit can be viewed on clear days. On the way back visit a typical Bhutanese farmhouse. After lunch drive to Ta-Dzong to visit the National Museum and walk down hill passing Paro Dzong & crossing the typical traditional Bhutanese roofed bridge to Paro town. Overnight at Hotel.

 

Day 03 Paro - Jele Dzong

Distance 10 km. Alt. 11,600 ft. Today is a short trekking day. The trek trail is rather gradual climb till the camp and if the weather is clear the Paro valley can be seen with the Mt. Jomolhari and Snowcapped Mountains behind the valley. Camp at Jele Dzong

 

Day 04 Jele Dzong – Tsheluna

The days trail will be all the way downhill till you reach Tshaluna. Trail leads through the ancient trail through rhododendron forest. You will visit a typical farmhouse at Tshaluna. The trail takes you through thick alpine forest. The day’s camp will be at the side of the river at Tsheluna. (Distance 10 km)

 

Day 05 Tsheluna – Thimphu

The trail leads to climb up. The view of the valleys can be seen. The climb will take you till Pumla where lunch will be served at the Pumla monastery. After lunch the trail leads towards Phajoding and on clear days the views of “Gangkhar Punsum” 7554 mtrs the highest mountain in Bhutan can be seen. The climb becomes much easier as the trail leads down till Motithang where you will be received and refreshment will be served before you are driven to your hotel.

 

Day 06 Thimphu – Paro for departure

Early in the morning you will awaken and served bed tea by the room boys. Then drive to Paro for your departure flight to your next destination. Driving distance is 60 Km, 2 hours from Thimphu to Paro.


Season : January - June & September - December
Group Nos : Minimum 6 but individual is also acceptable.

Climate : Days are normally warm. Nights can at times be very cold and in winter some time temperature comes to below freezing

Monsoon showers in summer (heaviest July, August) and light drizzle in spring and autumn.

What to bring (Personal Clothing): Strong normal clothing (according to season). Preferably cotton for summer. Woolen clothes for evening and winter and prescriped medicines.
