Day 01 Arrival by Druk-air – Paro

During this flight one will enjoy the view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga and other Himalayan Mountains including the sacred Mt. Jhomolhari & Mt. Jichu Drakey in Bhutan. On arrival at Paro Airport the representative of Bhutan Takin trails will receive you and transfer you to hotel for overnight halt.


Day 02 Paro sightseeing

Drive to Drugyel Dzong (Victorious fort) now in ruins after it was destroyed by fire in 1951. From here one can have the view of sacred Mt. Jhomolhari on clear days. Thereafter make a visit to a typical Bhutanese farmhouse. Then we drive back to hotel for lunch en route make a visit to the sacred monastery of Kyichu Lhakhang, founded in the 7th century by the first King of Tibet. After lunch drive to Ta-Dzong, the former Watch Tower which now houses the National Museum and then walk down to the Paro Dzong, crossing the typical Bhutanese wooden cantilevered bridge to Paro town. After a short stroll in town drive back to hotel for the night.


Day 03 Paro – Shana

Today the trek starts from Drugyel Dzong to Shana which is about 5 to 6 hours walk with gradual climb following the Paro river through the agricultural valley and villages. The campsite is opposite the army check post in the meadows, near the river, at an altitude of 2,800m.


Day 04 Shana – Thangthangka

The trail is gradual ascend following the Paro river through the conifer forest and Rhododendron bushes. The campsite is in a flat meadow surrounded by conifer and birch forest and on clear days one can have a magnificent view of Mt. Jhomolhari suddenly peeping at you through the clouds. Camp at Alt. 3,860m and trek of 6 to 7 hours.


Day 05 Thangthangka –Jangothang

The trail leads by passing the army post and the valley begins to widen before coming by the winter house of yak herder where hot lunch will be served in one of the houses. Camp beneath a ruined fortress at the base of Mt. Jhomolhari, Alt. 4,040 mt and trek about 5 to 6 hours.


Day 06 Jangothang – halt

Explore with amazing day hike with choice of one’s to the direction of Mt. Jhomolhari, Jichu Drake or to Tsophu (lake) for fishing. Overnight at a camp.


Day 07 Jangothang – Lingshi

The trail gradually climbs across Nyili-la pass, Alt. 4,680 m and all the way down a view of Lingshi Dzong and Tserim Gang with its descending glaciers and lakes. Camp near the stream in a meadow at Alt. 3,915 m and trek about 5 to 6 hours.


Day 08 Lingshi – Shodu

The trail is through the deep valley and ascends to Yeli-la pass, Alt. 4,820 m. From here Mt. Jhomolhari, Mt Tsherim Gang and Mt. Masagang can be seen on clear days. Camp in a meadow at Alt. 3,815 m and trek about 6 to 7 hours.


Day 09 Shodu – Barshong

The trail winds up and down gently following the Thim-chu and gradually climbs to Barshong ruined Dzong. Camp just below the ruined fortress at Alt. 3,685 mt and trek about 5 to 6 hours.


Day 10 Barshong -Thimphu.

The trial descends gently down to meet Thimphu Chu through the dense forest of Rhododendron, birch, conifer trees across the pasture land, The trek continues till you reach Dolam Kencho where lunch will be served. After lunch you will be descending down through pine forest till you reach Dodina where you will be picked by vehicle, which will drive you to your Hotel in Thimphu.


Day 11 Thimphu - Sightseeing

Start the day with the sightseeing of Zelukha Nunnery, National library, Memorial Chorten in the honor of the Late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, Handicraft Emporium and walk around Thimphu City. After lunch Drive to Painting School and the Indigenous Hospital, Simtokha Dzong, the first fort built in 1627-29 by Zhabdrung who unified the Kingdom. Then drive back to town for shopping of souvenirs from Bhutan.


Day 12 Thimphu- Paro for Departure

Early morning you will awaken and served bed tea by the room boys. Then drive to Paro for your departure flight to your next destination. Driving distance is 60 Km 2 hours from Thimphu to Paro.


Season : April - June & September - November.

Group : Minimum 3 persons but 2 persons also will be entertained with surcharge.

Climate : Days are normally warm. Nights can at times be very cold and in winter temperature can go below freezing point. Monsoon showers in summer (heaviest in July, August) and sometimes in spring and autumn.

What to bring (personal clothing): Strong normal clothing (according to season). Preferably cotton for summer and woolen clothing for evening and winter.


For Trekking
: Strong comfortable trekking boots, sunglasses, headgear, raincoat & warm clothing for the evenings. A sleeping bag is a must. Medium to heavy sleeping bag is advisable. Torchlight will also be very handy. (Note: for trekking a load of 25 kg is allowed.)
